Aids in identification of the location of minority religions.

Having worked with Pomeranian genealogical research for 40+ years, it was interesting to find "Map Guide to German Parish Registers - Pomerania II' which covers "middle Pomerania". There is little to be found (in English) regarding research in this corner of Germany, pre-1945, and was curious to see what was in the book. There are 457 pages in this 8 1/2 x 10 3/4" book. There is a great collection of parish maps (by county) which I've only found in German language books. The useful listing of towns/villages shows you which parish you might want to search if you don't already know. This can be very helpful for those attempting to locate where to look for church records for their ancestors. They have included film #'s for church registers that were filmed by the Mormons c. 85 years ago. This is very useful for those who can access user friendly LDS branch libraries. Fortunately many of these filmed church records are becoming available 'on line' in the past couple years. It must be noted that there were many church records lost/destroyed at the end of WW2 in this part of Germany. Some counties have a wonderful collection of records to be found and other areas almost nothing. Filmed records cover the basic time period of 1810-1874 but some records can take you back into the 1600's if you are lucky. On the whole, this is is a good resource item for people just starting their research.

Jill Collis is Director, Accounting and Auditing Research Centre, Brunel University, UK. She has published several books on accounting and research methods and her writing reflects her experience as a mature student. She is a very active researcher and lectures worldwide.

Roger Hussey�is Dean of Guangzhou International Business School, China. After a career in industry, he became Director of Research into Employee Communications at St Edmund Hall, Oxford University, UK, and later held a chair at the University of the West of England, Bristol. He has written many books and articles on accounting. His main research interests are international accounting and corporate governance.

About the Author
John K. Halvey is a partner in the New York office of the international law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley, & McCloy, LLP and the founder of the Strategic Sourcing and Technology Group. He practices in all areas of technology and sourcing law, with particular emphasis on information technology and business process outsourcing and private equity transactions involving technology or sourcing companies.
Mr. Halvey has represented companies in many of the largest technology, telecommunications, and business processing outsourcing transactions, including Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, BellSouth, Panasonic, Citigroup, DuPont, AT&T, Alcatel, Xerox, Boeing, Bombardier, General Atlantic and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia.
His work in these areas has been the subject of articles in Forbes, Information Week, Computer World, CIO Magazine, The Daily Deal, and Venture Capital Journal. Mr. Halvey has for many years been ranked by Chambers and Partners as one of the world’s leading information technology and outsourcing lawyers and was the only lawyer in the United States to be ranked a "Star Performer" in the outsourcing industry in both 2005 and 2006. Practical Contracting Process, Templates, and Tools

I have an older version of this book (2000) and have referred to it frequently when considering outsourcing, in thinking through partnering potentials, and in considering consultant hires. Halvey & Melby systematically walk you through the things you need to consider including: planning, defining the scope, vendor selection, negotiations, contracting, measuring performance, human resources, projects, international considerations, post and re-negotiation activities, and termination.

BPO 2nd edition review

The book is quite interesting in matter of setting an initial framework for BPO contracts, provisions and so forth. However I do think that it lacks a little in depth in matters of theoretical BPO foundation and/or importance. Every piece of information within the book is not quite up to date, which means it has content from 2005 and backwards, no recent developments ins regard to the topic exist.

About the Author

Wong Kiew Kit, popularly known as Sifu Wong, is the fourth generation successor of Venerable Jiang Nan from the famous Shaolin Monastery in China and Grandmaster of Shaolin Wahnam Institute of Kungfu and Chi Kung. He received the “Chi Kung Master of the Year” Award during the Second World Congress on Chi Kung held in San Francisco in 1997. He has practiced and taught the Shaolin arts for more than 3 decades and has more than 60,000 students all over the world.

So, you're interested in getting a better understanding on Shaolin Kungfu. This book really opened my mind from what I had previously believed to be Shaolin. I am a Zen Buddhist, who has long been interested in understanding more about the various martial arts. I thought this book might give me decent insight into the practices of Shaolin Kungfu, and help expand on the core principles of why it has sustained into our present world. This book very much illustrates that. The step by step instructions are deeply informative and have helped open my eyes to the connection between my mind and body. I've been practicing as I go, and I've eased into trying to improve on the form and force of the moves illustrated.

I originally just wanted an opportunity to open my mind to the practices of Shaolin monks and masters. This book I feel has me very excited to learn more. I just recently purchased the authors book on Tai Chi Chuan in an attempt to further understand these great practices.

If you're on the fence because of the price, if you're truly passionate about self-betterment and understanding more about the history, practices, and grandeur of the Shaolin Arts. I suggest you purchase this book.

Rich world-building and a fascinating female protagonist

Katherine Kerr has drawn a spectacularly rich world with history, mythology, varied races and languages far outstripping most other fantasy writers. She has also produced a fascinating heroine in the character of Jill. While this rather plain anglo-saxon name continues to bug me as I read the series, Jill is a great example of a woman in a man's world--a woman attempting to overcome the conventions demanding that she put on a skirt and have babies. Another good character is the wizard Nevyn, doomed to live until he repairs the damage he has caused multiple souls. While he's a bit too all-powerful at times, Nevyn's striving to put things right pushes the series forward. I heartily recommend the books to anyone tired of Valdemar's italics or Midkemia's flatness.

The first in a long line

Daggerspell is the first of a series of -thus far- 13 books. If you start, start with the first one. In some series it doesn't really matter which one you start with, but here it does. It's a complicated story, not really one story, but a bunch of stories bundles in to one, starring the same main "characters" in different lives. Their fates or karma are woven together throughout their different lives and they keep getting reborn until they can live in peace with eachother.

I love they way Katharine Kerr use the different timelines. In each different time you get a new set of characters who are different, but also the same - except for Neven, the sorcerer, who lives through all these different times and centuries. It's because of a mistake he made when he was youg that he binds his soul with those of the peoples that died because of him. He vows not to rest until the dammage he did will be undone - little did he know it would take him severel centuries !!!

If you don't like to read a lot, or don't like long, complicated stories, don't start with this one, because there are 12 more that follow !

Katherine Kerr's writing takes a bit of getting used to, but it's worth the effort. She approaches her stories with a Celtic storytelling mindset, which means she conveys events according to their significance to the story, as opposed to chronologically. Consequently, while the stories begin in the "present" (which is an elastic concept, anyway, in a fantasy setting), the events unfold, chapter wise, both in the "present" and in the distant past. This can be frustrating, at first, but Kerr's writing is heavily steeped in Pagan and Western Mystery tradition, and the Celtic setting (and mindset) of her characters means that time, or chronological time, is not essentially relevant. To be honest, I found the first half of this book infuriating, as I spent a lot of time trying to adjust to the writing style. However, I found the story engrossing enough that I persevered, and by the second half was so hooked I've read all ten in her three series.

Kerr's story evolves around the concept of reincarnation, and unfinished business, and "karma", and fate. The same souls recur again and again, just in new bodies, over the course of the centuries over which the story unfolds.

Kerr's world is one of High Fantasy, populated by Elves, Men, and Dwarves, as well as faeries/elementals, which she terms the "Wildfolk". However, hers is a slightly more dark, dangerous and less clear cut world than the works of other High Fantasy authors, not the least due to the fact that someone who was your friend in a former life can re-emerge in the story centuries later as a foe, and vice versa. There is a tremendous amount of magic, but it's the magic of the Western Mystery tradition (quite a bit of Golden Dawn and even Enochiana), and that of R.J. Stewarts Faery tradition. There are dragons, and giant beast men.

The Elves are a fallen race, driven out of their magnificent and palatial cities centuries before by invaders, and who now roam the plains as primitives. They possess the potential to be superlative magicians, but the knowledge was lost in the fall of their civilization. Humans, though warlike and shorter lived, have preserved this knowledge, but guard it jealously. The Wildfolk, basically magic incarnate, are unhinged from the effects of "karma", but lack permanence of personality, and cannot grow or develop, cursed to stagnation. The Dwarves are a secretive mystery, entrenched within the earth. Each has something to offer the other, and the story that unfolds is the story of this "technology" exchange, of sorts, between them.

Fans of Marion Zimmer Bradley, who clearly influenced Kerr, will be enraptured by this series, as will fans of Kate Eliott, who Kerr, herself, clearly influenced. It's phenomenal! Devotees of the New Age, Esoteric or Occult will find themselves nodding and smiling as they read, and sincerely hoping Kerr's writing will do for the Western Mystery and Faery traditions what Bradley's has done for Wicca.
