His industrial career includes work as a design engineer, reliability engineer, project manager, and Six Sigma Black Belt. The Best MiniTab Reference to Date

I have owned several MiniTab books over the years and really was not looking for another but bought this one after investigating some of the topics. I am a Six Sigma Black Belt and a MiniTab power user. And this is the best book on the subject I have seen yet. Don't let the title fool you - it is not for Dummies. You still need to understand statistical concepts but what the book does exceptionly well is communicate how to use the software. Understanding and applying the analysis correctly is up to you. It has been my observation that people can put a high confidence in a statistical analysis even though it is not correctly done or interpeted. That sometimes turns out to be unfortunate and at times: dangerous. Be careful not to make errors with greater precision.

This is the book that Minitab should have written.

Minitab is a really popular statistical software program. Statistics, by itself, can be daunting, and learning to use new software can be as well. What Minitab did right was to include lots of example data sets from which the new user can play around. What the author does here is take those data sets and guides the reader through a set of instructions which are geared to get the new user up and running. I'm doing just that right now with this book, and I'm confident that I'll be just about "this close" to being a Minitab expert in no time. If you're new to statistics, Minitab is great. If you're new to Minitab, this book is for you.

Eye Opening Stuff.

This book was required reading for a class on political, economic, and environmental processes at The Evergreen State College. The word "liberal" in the title should not be confused with the modern use of the word, i.e., liberal vs. conservative. This book uses it in the classic sense of a constitutional democracy with protections for individual rights. The book is eye opening because it teaches that the evolution of liberal democracy has had less to do with idealism than it has with the enlightened self-interest of the merchant class. The book is somewhat dense reading (lots of ideas tightly compacted) but relatively short, and a worthwhile read for anyone who is politically active.

the rabbit omnibus by john updike

i read the rabbit books as they were published in the 1960s. the recent tv series 'madman' took me back to the usa in the 1960s and made me want to re-read the rabbit stories that captured those times so well.

my first husband very much wanted to leave england and move to the usa in the 1960s. after long visits, i realised i did not like the value systems in the usa at that time when everything 'on the surface' was clean, neat and perfect whilst under the surface there were double standards that especially applied to attitudes towards women and blacks.

eventually, my husband went to live in usa. i later emigrated to australia with our children. given the way usa has turned out, i recon i chose the better path.

in the rabbit series and his other books, including 'couples', updike captured the values of usa in the 60s exceptionally well, imho.

A very powerful play addressing the South African situation.

In My Chindren! My Africa!, Fugard tells the story of a white South African girl who becomes involved in debates with a black South African boy and his teacher, but as the racial tension increases, tragedy becomes inevetable. Fugard tells a powerful story which not only addresses the racially charged South Africa he is from, but race relations and the need to realize the differences between people of race are only skin deep.

In this book, Linford Fisher tells the gripping story of American Indians' attempts to wrestle with the ongoing realities of colonialism between the 1670s and 1820. In particular, he looks at how some members of previously unevangelized Indian communities in Connecticut, Rhode Island, western Massachusetts, and Long Island adopted Christian practices, often joining local Congregational churches and receiving baptism. Far from passively sliding into the cultural and physical landscape after King Philip's War, he argues, Native individuals and communities actively tapped into transatlantic structures of power to protect their land rights, welcomed educational opportunities for their children, and joined local white churches. Religion repeatedly stood at the center of these points of cultural engagement, often in hotly contested ways. Although these Native groups had successfully resisted evangelization in the seventeenth century, by the eighteenth century they showed an increasing interest in education and religion. Their sporadic participation in the First Great Awakening marked a continuation of prior forms of cultural engagement. More surprisingly, however, in the decades after the Awakening, Native individuals and sub-groups asserted their religious and cultural autonomy to even greater degrees by leaving English churches and forming their own Indian Separate churches. In the realm of education, too, Natives increasingly took control, preferring local reservation schools and demanding Indian teachers whenever possible. In the 1780s, two small groups of Christian Indians moved to New York and founded new Christian Indian settlements. But the majority of New England Natives-even those who affiliated with Christianity-chose to remain in New England, continuing to assert their own autonomous existence through leasing land, farming, and working on and off the reservations.

While Indian involvement in the Great Awakening has often been seen as total and complete conversion, Fisher's analysis of church records, court documents, and correspondence reveals a more complex reality. Placing the Awakening in context of land loss and the ongoing struggle for cultural autonomy in the eighteenth century casts it as another step in the ongoing, tentative engagement of native peoples with Christian ideas and institutions in the colonial world. Charting this untold story of the Great Awakening and the resultant rise of an Indian Separatism and its effects on Indian cultures as a whole, this gracefully written book challenges long-held notions about religion and Native-Anglo-American interaction

The Indian Great Awakening

This book is an excellent source for information about the Christian missionary movements in New England among the Indians. It has great coverage of the Native ministers and their work with the people. I liked the way he covered each issue and mentioned the ways Native people chose to continue to express their culture. It is a good read even if you are not a historian or anthropoligist. Wonderfully researched and pulled together into a narrative. Look forward to the next offering from this author.

A sweet, wonderful Cade Creek addition !!

Wonderful DB/Devon is a doctor who loves being in this town of Cade Creek. Big "studlie" Nick, cop, loves his town, too, because his sister, husband and niece and nephew live there also. DB and Nick are best friends and have been since they were kids. When Nick comes into the ER shot twice, DB takes over and cares for him. They tease each other as always, cute banter and true friendship, as DB takes Nick home to recuperate. Nick isn't gay, but loves DB deeply. They shared a kiss as kids, but that was all. Now, Nick is feeling more for his friend. After the horrific accident, when his sis and hubby are killed, Nick and the kids move in with DB and all help each other deal with the new life they now have. Nick is considering marrying a woman so the kids have a "mother and a father". A lot happens in this short story, it is interesting, believable, the M/M sex is sizzling, and the characters are wonderful. I love a Stormy Glenn tale, and this is part of the Cade Creek series. The men have more sex, and Nick is miserable at the thought of marrying her when he doesn't love her. (There is no cheating in this story. ) The wedding day has a big twist and the guys are amazing. It's a sweet read. ENJOY !!!

I think this is one of the best yet in this series

I think this is one of the best yet in this series. The relationship between brother and sister and best friend is strong. I have to say I cried at times. Deputy Nick Hale's character really shows. The love on family and friends runs deep. Devon Berkley ( his best friend) proves over and over again his love for Nick. There was a new character introduced. Dr. Andrew Sutherland and his not so nice wife. Can't wait to see what's up with them...

Stormy Never Disappoints!

The latest from Stormy Glenn's Cade Creek does not disappoint! Nick & DB's story goes from tragedy to heartbreakingly beautiful. Nick has some serious issues, and DB stands at his side through it all, even to the point of giving him up so he can be happy. But in the end, thankfully, Nick wakes up and realizes that what he loves and needs has always been there! I will be rereading this one over and over!
